Penguin print designs are in this season
Every designer is inspired by something to produce their seasonal range of garments or household décor. You will begin to notice that penguin print designs are in this season and our new Tiny Twig range of organic cotton baby and toddler wear is just the first to hit the store.
Penguins have wings
One of the many characteristics that we love about penguins is that penguins have wings that are used as flippers for swimming, not flying. And penguins are very good at swimming – in fact they can even seem to fly through the water; some even leaping above the surface. Unlike flying birds’ wings penguin’s flippers are adapted to give power on both the up and down stroke and their bodies, like fish, are streamlined for low water resistance when swimming. In fact they are the most hydrodynamic (streamlined for fast swimming) of all marine creatures.
On land, although their walk appears clumsy and awkward, penguins can walk for 100 kilometres between the sea and their nests.
Penguins keep warm
Penguins use their smooth plumage to trap a layer of air. This is how penguins keep warm when they’re on ice and remain buoyant in water.
The organic cotton used in the Tiny Twig range is so silky smooth you’ll think of penguin plumage when you see babies and toddler dressed or wrapped in their penguin print garments.
Penguins win Oscars
A story in which the characters are anthropomorphic penguins – ‘Happy Feet’ (2006) was awarded animated feature film an Oscar and received critical acclaim amongst those audiences who know best – do you have a DVD copy at your place?
There is so much more to learn about penguins, watch for the next blog post.
